Back to school, back to school, to prove to daddy that I'm not a fool

So,

In the past couple of days we have both gone back to school. Jess started her 7th semester at Baylor. She is definitely ready to be done with school, and I can't blame her. After taking summer school for three summers in a row, I am schooled out as well.

I start tomorrow evening at UTSA. I will be taking some classes in the graduate school there in order to become eligible to sit for the CPA exam in the spring. I'm hoping to take a couple of sections before I start working so that my life won't be completely consumed by the exam once we're in Dallas.

Jess has a demanding schedule between work and school. She's still working as an assistant to a local photographer in Waco. This past weekend Jess had a large portion of her mom's family in town for the graduation of her cousin from Air Force basic training. I hadn't seen many of them since Carolyn's wedding so it was good to reconnect. Jess came down to San Antonio with Mallory and Carolyn.

Mallory is a good sport about traveling, and we can't wait to move to Dallas to be the "cool" aunt and uncle!

I'll post a review of my classes after next week once I've had them all.

Long overdue update!

Greetings to all-

A lot has happened since our last blog post. I graduated from Baylor University with my degree in Accounting. It was the first ceremony of new Baylor president Ken Starr (yes, that KEN STARR). It was a great ceremony with much of my family attending.

I've moved out of my apartment in Waco and am now living back with the parents! Jess has finally settled into her new apartment.

As far as wedding plans go, we've picked a venue, found Jess a dress, picked a color scheme, and already looked at invitations and save-the-dates.

I start graduate school at UTSA this Monday, so I'll likely be unable to update much once school picks up. Jess has another year at Baylor before she's finished and then we're getting hitched and heading to Dallas!!!

No updates for Charley (sorry dog!) as he's still the same crazy little dog. He's well behaved he just has lots of energy.

Neither here nor there...

Well there hasn't been much going on in the wedding planning, but Tristan and Jess have been running around with their heads cut off...ish.

As the lazy days of summer come and go, there are major changes about to occur. Changes with mixed emotions and filled with promise and adventure.
The story of the boy aka Tristan:
1. Graduation!!! I am so proud of you (: way to go! I can't believe you are going to walk down the isle in 2 weeks and get your diploma. Sic'em!!! You are going to have to do a little dance on the stage since you will be on the jumbo tron for the world to see.
2. He is moving ): This makes me sad since he will not be in Waco to spend time with Charley. Ok ok and me!! But UTSA here he comes!!! You are already taking on Grad school and getting it done in a year! How ambitious of you! You are going to turn into one crazy smarty pants. Watch out world here comes another smarty pants accountant to do your taxes... I know right, it is exciting stuff.
3. No more Waco apartments... sad, yet exciting! You are such a big kid for learning how to live on your own. I think the things you have mastered by doing so is cooking ridiculously delicious (yet sometimes out of this world spicy) quesadillas! How to fend off crazy Wacoans. How to clean (sort of (; work in progress) well when it comes to dishes you are a master at getting the nitty gritty, the mother of all caked on food off pans (you need to teach me this master trick... caked on food is just so gross)
4. Hmm I am running out of big changes... you can add more later my creativity is suffering at the moment

The story of the girl aka Jess aka me:
1. Work it girl!! I am still working and will continue working at Fleeting Moments Photography with the oh so talented Sarah Hess. I wish I was not graduating (well no thats not true I want to be done with school), but leaving in a year so I could continue working here. It is so fun and I have been so blessed to expand not only my knowledge but my love for photography! There are going to be so many great things that I will get to watch happen this year so watch out world here comes Fleeting Moment genius products (for you to partake in and experience - Know anyone that is looking for awesome pictures or videos? Let us know!!)
2. As the song says: Californiaaaa californiaaaa here I comee!!!!!!!! TOMORROW I am getting in a car with one of my best friends (Hilary, who is also a bridesmaid so get excited to meet here in a year) to go to CALIFORNIA!!! I am so excited I could just POP. I haven't been back in 5 years and oh so soon I will get to run up the beach with my toes in the sand and the coldest water I think on this planet (ok not really) about to hit my feet! I don't know how I played in the water all day with my friends when I was little. It is bone chilling cold and that is not an exaggeration it is real life. We don't have anything to exciting planned, I think our main goal is to be beach bums and eat In & Out everyday. Ok not everyday, but I will be in heaven when I eat it. Apparently In & Out is coming to Dallas, which I should be ECSTATIC for, but I just do not know it just doesn't seem like it belongs. Texas people love "WATER"burger so much I don't know if they would like In & Out. Dear Texas people, work on your taste buds (; Not only do you have mediocre choice on hamburgers, but you have never had DELICIOUS mexican food until you have had CA mexican food. This is a true statement.
3. ROOMMATES! I will finally have roommates again oh so soon! I have been in my apartment by myself all summer, which is nice at times, but kind of creepy at others. Waco is full of creepsters and I believe it is better to face the creepsters in packs than by yourself. Charley is not a very ferocious dog. He rather greet a stranger with open arms then protect his house. Silly dog.

That is about it for the changes occurring soon (: Not extremely exciting, but changes none the less. So hang tight for more to come and hopefully more wedding plans too.

Awww thanks for the surprise postage fiance(:
WELL..... I found bridesmaid dresses (: They are so cute! And don't look like bridesmaid dresses so that is super exciting to me. I also am so excited for my wonderful bridesmaids that are going to be in the wedding (Thanks guys!!)
Woo booked a photographer (: And yes it is the wonderful Sarah Hess that I interned with this summer! I am so excited I could just POP. She is so creative and I can not wait for fun picture sessions and wedding day picture day andddd for all of you to get to experience her fun.
Well the planning is coming to a dull roar and there will be a break for a bit to not only enjoy summer, but to work and possibly some traveling home. I have been working hard in the studio and Tristan has been working hard at watching the world cup. I mean hmwk hard at work on hmwk.
Oh I forgot we went to the Rangers game this past friday. Despite the rainfall it was so much fun! It reminds me of when I was a kid and went to Dodger's games. I mean the dodgers were a little more entertaining but a game is a game and we got to watch some baseball! They did not win, which was sad but thats life.
Thats about it, but to tide you over until the next post check out this hilarious video!!!

Wedding prep updates and other ramblings

So this is my first post on the blog here. Jess found her wedding dress and her bridesmaid dresses all within a bout 10 days. That's a huge relief because now she can focus on the fun parts of the wedding planning like decorations etc...

I've been looking at honeymoon destinations and we've got a few picked out that we really like. With a June wedding we definitely hope that the destinations that we pick aren't packed full of tourists.

Jess has been working an internship with a local photographer. She's getting really good at the whole photography thing. I don't understand it too well, but I definitely try to. It's pretty neat to see all the cool things you can do with pictures.

I've only got about a week and a half left of school. I'll be graduating from Baylor on August 14th. I'll be spending a lot of time in San Antonio during July watching the dogs while my parents take a trip to Alaska.

Well that's all from me. Oh one last thing- how 'bout them Yanks!!! USA! I've got World Cup fever and have watched all the games but a couple. I couldn't believe today's late dramatic goal. It sent me into hysteria!

Take care,

Planning, planning, planning planning....

The planning has just begun!! As of today we are going to get married at The Winfield Inn in Kyle, Texas on June 11, 2011!!! How exciting. I feel a weight lifted off my shoulders. Every place we liked and called they said they were all booked and I for one was about to pull my hair out. But... then we found the Winfield Inn and it is everything and then some!! It is going to be outdoors so hold on to your pants and be prepared to sweat your socks off. It is shaded though and we are going to find some creative ways to keep you people cool and happy(:
I found my dress already, which was so exciting and unexpected! I got to go look with my mom and sister and there was no crying in the dressing room this time. When my sister got married and tried on wedding dresses I started crying in the dressing room because I was so happy for her and she looked so pretty! But I kept it together and did not start the crying game - I am definitely the crier in the family. I am keeping it a secret from Tristan which is SO hard, but it will be such a fun surprise! Next on the list is bridesmaid dresses which I will get to search for with two of my bridesmaids in a week (:
So what is next you say? Well I am off to find a photographer which is not an easy task since I know what I want and am kind of picky I will admit. But hey that was what I am learning in school and in my awesome internship and I want something INCREDIBLE. It is how we are going to remember our special day. Because lets admit it when we are 85 years old we are not going to remember a whole lot, but what triggers our memories will be the photographs. So come on people start taking pictures so you can remember the special moments in life. It'll be worth it and taking pictures is FUN, who wouldn't want to?
Tristan is on the hunt for a fun honeymoon location! He is having a lot of fun doing that. Dad let us use his timeshare so we are looking for something tropical and relaxing. (Thanks Dad!!) I can not wait to feel the sand in between my toes! I miss the beach I think I could live in a hut on the beach and be a happy camper... ok maybe only for a week then I would need the real world.
That is where we are in the planning stage (: still trying to figure out colors. I think I change my mind daily. But we are so excited for this special day to come and getting to spend it with all of our loved ones! So hang tight for the rest of the year... it is going to be a good one!

-Jess(:
